Running Shaadi Movie Review

The real fun part though are that supporting cast. The story is funny and irreverent and the performances up to the mark. The music never gets in the way of the story and the length, at 1 hour 55 minutes is just right. While the constant beeping out of the .com at the end of the title is a tad irritating, you can let that slide considering the film was stuck in limbo for three years. While there may not be much of a Shaadi, there’s definitely a lot of fun running around that you may want to check out.

The film’s dialogues (Navjot Gulati & Amit Roy) are decent. The film, however, does not boast of any outstanding one liners. The film does have its share of comic scenes, which evokes laughter. Even though the film has an array of music directors (Anupam Roy, Abhishek-Akshay, Keegan Pinto, Anjana Ankur Singh, Sandeep Madhavan), the music is just about passable. With no hook songs to boast about, RUNNING SHAADI fails to score in the music department. On the other hand, the film’s background music (Abhishek Arora) is decent and moves in sync with the film’s narrative. The film’s cinematography (Anas Ali Khan) is below average. The film’s editing (Nipun Gupta) is mediocre as well.On the whole, RUNNING SHAADI is an entertaining film, but only in parts. The film suffers from the lack of an interesting drama. At the Box-Office, the film will be an average fare.

The second half of the film gets bogged down by an influx of an army of actors with distinct traits. Led by Sinha Jee (Pankaj Jha), these actors talk in many dialects including Maithili, Bhojpuri and chaste Hindi. As parts of a well-knit Bihari society, they churn out some intriguing moments, but fail to do it seamlessly. Director Amit Roy may have unnecessarily stretched the film to 114 minutes. Running Shaadi has its moments, but they are too few to keep you engrossed.

That leaves only one reason to watch Running Shaadi – to see how filmmakers dealt with being told at the last minute to drop dotcom from its title because a certain website complained. Everytime the original title figures in the film, the lips are blurred out. It’s unsettling. Roy couldn’t have sent out a stronger message, even if unintended.

Running Shaadi turns out to be a funny affair. The breezy film is entertaining for most of the time. Running Shaadi comes across as a good comic caper that tackles modern day relationships in an interesting manner. It could make up for a fun watch for those who like Jab We Met, Band Baaja Baraat kind of films.A major twist comes in the second half that is good but what happens after it is slightly stretched. This is where the film falters majorly.Running Shaadi is a breezy entertainer in parts. Taapsee does a good job as the spunky girl. Those with a taste for romantic films with a hint of comedy will enjoy it.

With so many serious and hard-hitting films that have come up recently, this would be a light hearted comedy to have a relaxed weekend. Apart from that, wouldn’t really recommend it.Everything is going fine until one day when Nimmi walks in and says she wants to run away with her supposed boyfriend ‘Shunty’ whereas she actually plans to trick Bharosa into running away with her. What happens next is a mix of laughter, romance, serious drama and even action!.
